Collaborations - Liverpool Biennial 2006 September 29th, 2006

After completing a couple of jobs with Jon Mcfaul for Man City and Playstation 3, it was nice to collaborate with him on a non-commercial project. The Independents Biennial Liverpool 2006 “showcases artwork by over 150 North West, UK and International artists across 62 venues and spaces throughout the city of Liverpool.” The space we worked with was inside The Albany, a beautiful refurbished Victorian building designed by JK Colling (the chap who also designed the National Portrait Gallery). Dave Bevan developed a concept called “The Northwest Passage” and wrote a cracking piece of prose about the constant ebb and flow of people through the history of Liverpool. Jon McFaul and his colleagues turned the words into a mammoth illustration which stretched 20 metres down the corridor to The Cube Noir gallery which is housed within The Albany. The only pisser was that none of us could make it to the launch party. Ho hum.03

Another Busy Day At The Office September 27th, 2006

The new office is coming together quite nicely.  Dave Palmer took charge of getting some new shelves for extra storage.  I’m sure he pondered ordering some simple, easy to construct shelving units. But instead he opted for movisi PLAY - "made from ARPRO, a wonderful new foam material that helps make furnishings convenient and enjoyable".  The assembly instructions were re-assuringly brief and simple; 1. check you have all the pieces. 2. align the pieces correctly. 3. connect the pieces by pressing them together.  The first shelf took 7 of us 4 hours to put up.  Dave is on a Nike shoot in South Africa, so he wasn’t here to help.

5th Birthday Party September 25th, 2006

We’ve been sitting here all morning, knowing that we should write something about our 5th Birthday Party.  Trouble is, we’re struggling to remember very much about anything beyond the first hour. Lots of people turned up, which is always a relief and we all remember it going on for a long time.  Oh, and the bar bill was huge, so hopefully everyone had enough to drink and had a good time.  We definitely did.
