LinkedIn

A couple of months ago, Facebook reached a new “tipping point” of popularity and properly took off in the UK. This month, LinkedIn looks like it is going to do the same. Our prediction is that MySpace/Bebo will win out as the fun, younger networking sites and LinkedIn will replace Facebook as the networking method of choice for older professionals getting a bit bored with Zombies and Poke Me’s. Darn, we’ve only just persuaded a load of distant colleagues to be our “friends” on Facebook….

  1. I signed up for Linkedin last year sometime… no one I know was using it. Facebook is huge in the US amongst the college crowd.

  2. Hi there. I think like any market, the social network market will start to segment. Facebook is massive in the UK too, but I think that LinkedIn is more useful to many people currently using Facebook which is why we reckon a lot of professional/older users using social networking for work purposes will switch from Facebook to LinkedIn. Facebook will be more for fun/socialising, but we reckon a lot of people may get bored of it quite soon.

  4. Absolutely Sam. We’re not choosey. We let any old riff-raff be our friends. We’re that desperate to be loved and appear popular. See you at :- http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2413914064
