Whilst some of you may enjoy organic blackberries (the fruit, not mobile device) from Waitrose all year round, my Gran always told me that blackberry season didn’t officially start until the bird shit started to turn purple (except she didn’t use the word shit. She said ‘poop’ or something similar.) So imagine my delight as I walked down my street this morning and saw this splattering of purple excrement.

Blackberry season has officially started. Enjoy. Just remember not to pick the ones that are low down and potentially covered in dog wee.
