We were intrigued enough by this poster to cross the road and see who it was by.

A nice surprise to see that it’s for our friends and former neighbours oi polloi.

We’ve designed our first ‘coffee table book’ for photographer Klaus Thymann.

The book, called Hybrids, documents a broad range of hybrid cultures from gay rodeo, techno hippies and underwater strippers through to a religious theme park somewhere in the USA (well it had to be didn’t it?). Klaus’ business is called ‘Squash ‘em’ which is exactly what we did with all of his photography to create the cover graphic - and he didn’t even mind, bless him. Inside is an intro section of illustrations by David Shrigley and a further 130+ pages of gob-smackingly good photography and finally, an interview with Klaus by Alex Zamora.

Thursday night was the Roses Design Awards. It’s always difficult to blog about these things, especially if you do well. What can you say? Well, since I asked, I thought I’d answer. According to Blogging About Awards (2007, Revised Edition) there are five correct ways to approach the subject:

1) Show off (but no one likes a show off)
2) Remain modest (does anyone really buy that any more?)
3) Thank everyone (don’t really want to do a Gwyenth)
4) LOST poster (did this last week)
5) Use squirrels

Fortunately of the four golds, silver and two bronze awards we won, we only managed to lose one of them. It may possibly be buried somewhere in South Manchester. Dave says there’s a job and a bag of nuts going for anyone who returns it safely, along with the Fresh ones.

The new ad is good.  There are loads of nifty little touches - like getting the movement of the sunlight on the buildings in perfect sequence.

The little facts you get about colour that pop up as the ad is loading are good too.

These chaps need to decide which website idea to choose for their new agency.

So we all get to vote to help them make the right decision.
