Gre’s Face November 29th, 2007

Here’s a recent job we did for MicroSoft. Hotmail has a perception problem. It’s now really clever and advanced, no really it is. So we needed to find a way of telling the media industry about this, in ways they could easily understand. That way they’ll buy lots of ad space on Hotmail. So we used Gré, one of our designers as a model for our initial creative presentation…and the client liked him so much we ended up using him for the finished campaign. Here he is heroically stopping Spam. spam.jpgspam_stop.jpg

Dr Martens November 29th, 2007

Danni & Helen the collation machines have just boxed all 200 of the Dr Marten goodies to be sent out this week. We can’t show you just yet, but they should be online soon.dm.jpg thank1.jpgthank2.jpg

Never work with kids or animals November 29th, 2007

(Unless you’re working with photographer Jane Stockdale)

Last week we were on location with Silver Cross at Temple Newsam Home Farm in Leeds. There are plenty of recipes for disaster, but our list of ingredients included:

10x children under the age of three
10x parents
3x grandparents
1x photographer
1x photographer’s assistant
1x art director
1x client
9x pushchairs
lots of sheep
lots of chickens
lots of goats
lots of ducks
lots of pigs
a few piglets
a couple of dogs
some rabbits and cats
1x copywriter (now that’s just plain stupid)

Amazingly, thanks to the patience and eagle eye of Jane and possibly the most beautiful November day we’ve had since all this climate change lark arrived, it was a huge success.

So thanks to everyone involved for all their efforts, especially the lovely families who gave up their time to help us out: Dan, Kat & Vincent, Katie & Theo, Charlene & Finley, Sarah & Annie, Claire & Euan, Jo & Matilda, Tony & Anne, Dan, Jo & Alex, Andy, Matthew & Lucy, Ishbel & Madalief, and Rachael & Xanthe.

Thanks to all the staff at Temple Newsam too, including the kind lady in the canteen who made us endless cups of tea and coffee all day (and had to put up with screaming kids everywhere.)

(Images seen here are my own, not the ones Jane took. Jane’s are much better, but we just can’t show them yet. Sorry.)

It’s a Boy!! November 15th, 2007

That’s what they said to Mrs Rigby, when they handed her a baby boy some thirty five-ish years ago. “We’ll call him Jonathan,” she said.

But on Tuesday Jonathan himself was handed a baby. “It’s a girl!” they said. And indeed they were right. “We’ll call her Martha May Rigby” Jonathan said. “She’s 6lb 8oz,” they said.

Congratulations to all involved (we’re guessing mainly Jonathan and Claire) from everyone here at LOVE. Happy sleepless nights.

Need A Logo? November 2nd, 2007

bjl.png

Last night we went along to the annual NABS Little Big Bash and auction.

A lot of the auction items were interesting, but one proved too tempting to resist - “one logo design provided free of charge by bjl“.

Now, we could dwell here on the irony of paying less for a company identity than the sum donated for two Take That tickets, but we’ll leave that for another day.

Instead, here’s what we propose.

If anyone out there has any suggestions for a worthy recipient of bjl’s extremely kind logo design offer, please make your suggestion below.

(By the way, we found ourselves bidding against Sandra Tinker who needed a logo for her stables, so LOVE will do that logo for Sandra leaving bjl free for another ‘organisation in need’.)

Not only will we ensure bjl receive a very thorough briefing and work to the very legendary LOVE quality standards (ahem), we’ll also showcase their handiwork right here on this site as a big thank you for their generosity.

Suggestions please.
