Need A Logo?
November 2nd, 2007
Last night we went along to the annual NABS Little Big Bash and auction.
A lot of the auction items were interesting, but one proved too tempting to resist - “one logo design provided free of charge by bjl“.
Now, we could dwell here on the irony of paying less for a company identity than the sum donated for two Take That tickets, but we’ll leave that for another day.
Instead, here’s what we propose.
If anyone out there has any suggestions for a worthy recipient of bjl’s extremely kind logo design offer, please make your suggestion below.
(By the way, we found ourselves bidding against Sandra Tinker who needed a logo for her stables, so LOVE will do that logo for Sandra leaving bjl free for another ‘organisation in need’.)
Not only will we ensure bjl receive a very thorough briefing and work to the very legendary LOVE quality standards (ahem), we’ll also showcase their handiwork right here on this site as a big thank you for their generosity.
Suggestions please.

my sisters father in law owns a saveloy sausage making company…..
he hasn’t got a logo.

thank you mm. in itself the distinctive shape and curviness of a saveloy sausage could prove an exciting springboard for bjl.

My friend Karina is working her socks off to start a cupcake company. She’s going to be selling at the local farmers markets in a couple of weeks. All her cakes are made from top notch stuff.
Due to the fact that she’s spent most of her money on vast quantities of fushia-pink-chocolate-dipped-pistachios to decorate the cakes her funds are running low…
She’d love a logo. The company is called Sugar Lips. She spent a bit of money with a graphic designer but all their logo suggestions made the company look rather like an escort agency…which wasn’t really the look she was going for.
If the folks at bjl could put their ‘wholesomebutohsostylish’ hats on for Karina she’d be soo greatful. And obviously she’d send you a cupcake or two…or three.

I’d quite like my own logo. Just me. Like that squiggle Prince had when he decided to become the artist formerly known as prince, but with more of a pie slant to it. Obviously I won’t also be changing my name to the copywriter formerly known as Pieman too. THAT would be stupid.

odd&eve is a range of individual, hand-made, knitted kidswear - cardigans. tanktops, little jumpers in bright clashing colours with big ill-matching buttons.
in the world of odd&eve red goes brilliant with green and brown looks wicked with orange. it’s gawky geek chic for babies and toddlers and the exclusive, premium range is sold in individually wrapped paper packaging with a simple tag.
odd&eve is knitted by highly skilled grannies across the uk.
odd&eve would love a logo (soon!) so we can test out the designs with a selection of small independent baby clothes boutiques in the run up to chrimbo.
we really hope the creatives at bjl will help us out!

hello.
My wonderful friend Claris is right, I’d love a logo for Sugar Lips!
(However she is not right about the spelling of ‘grateful’)
Still, nobody’s perfect.

Ooh sack BJL, I’ll do that cupcake on!
November 7th, 2007 at 9:43 pm
cheers Jonathan. I see that you to appreciate the fine contours a saveloy sausage can offer any designer looking for that extra special design brief.
I think the art of sausage making is not to dissimilar from how agencies operate and would expect BJL to nail this bugger in true D&AD style (with your art direction of course)…
P.S can you tell me what BJ stands for in bjl?

Karina/Claris.
Could you drop a line to Chris Gray - one of our fine designers.
He’s been so inspired by your cupcake brief that he’s agreed to make time in his busy international schedule to do your logo.
You should be honoured.
I don’t want to put his email on this blog, but give us a call at LOVE and whoever answers the phone will put you in touch with him.

oooh exciting. thanks Chris!
We’ll give you a call!

Rachel, that sounds like fun also, it would be a shame to let BJL work on such a fun project when i could, like chris, spare some time to help you out….

See thats why we need account people, otherwise me and him would be designing everything for cupcakes and handmade goodies!

Hi;
I think a logo for my work on the words “I Love You” is the answer… more about it…
Starting from the death of my mother in 1999, I have been exploring love “from both sides now” as Joni sings. Creating visual art, video art, installations and now the website http://www.iloveyoueverywhere.com all using the words “I Love You”.
What started out to be a personal exploration soon became a realization that we are becoming de-socialized and apathetic. We connect with cell phones, computers, losing physical touch and voice, smell, anything sensory that grounds us as social beings.
After examining the many ways we mean “I Love You” in visual art, I went into video art, filming over 250 people simply saying “I Love You”. The results were astounding. Besides the accolades and festival invitations worldwide, the biggest reward came from the effects of the film. You can see that love means something unique to every one of these people. You can see that as the words are released, people’s faces changed, you can see that love given WAS love received.
In a search for ways to promote love, connection, I have developed a site where anyone from all over the world can add their version of “I Love You”. I welcome your involvement. Share some love, now and always. Tell someone you love, that you love them. Tell them; show them, now and always.
Maybe we were naive thinking “all you need is love” maybe we had the answer all along and just lost our way… maybe we just need new ways to connect, I don’t know, I do know love is the most powerful thing there is, it is life itself. It is my hope that with this work, we can dissipate the negative existing in wars and violence, existing in greed and power, existing in an over consumption of material matter and an under consumption of touching, feeling and connection.
It is my hope that this exchange of love can be infectious, and fill us each with a desire to love, share love, love more and more often.

i’d like to see JBL do a logo demonstrating how a merge between Love and BDH might look….
or is someone already working this brief…?
November 20th, 2007 at 11:06 pm
I don’t have a client, but I am a client of someone who deserves a logo. Her name is Lauren, and she has no teeth. She really is rather smashing.

I want a logo for my bald head. It’s very bare, shiny and ….well empty.
Thankyou.
November 22nd, 2007 at 10:22 am
I’d also like to see ‘JBL’ do a logo for the imaginary merger between us and BDH. It would be very interesting to watch a company, world-renowned for loudspeaker design, taking its first steps into corporate identity.
Oh NP - it’s what’s in it, not what’s on it baby.

I would like love and BJL to design there own award logo which would be handed out to graduate who have proved that they have exceptional creative concepts in there folio, it would be like the blue peter badge of the design world, a symbol to be recognised by other agencies and say something about the designer who has it

That’s me buggered then Alistair.

JBL - BJL.
what’s a BJ between friends?
maybe they need to re-design their own logo to avoid confusion like this…

Not, ignoring the most recent comments (well a bit, maybe) but i adore cupcakes! Especially those with my name on them
