A Midsummer Night’s Dream June 26th, 2008
‘Let’s do the 3 Peaks Challenge on 21st June’, we thought…longest day and all that… ‘we’re bound to get nice weather…’ we thought, when we planned our fundraising effort for Christian Aid back in February. In the event, weather conditions were more like those you associate with the middle of winter, but we’re pleased to say that we got our team of 8 up and down Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within our target time of 24 hours, raising cash for Christian Aid in the process (you can still sponsor us here!) We got buffetted by wind, we got rained on, hailed on and didn’t sleep a wink, but it was worth it. Special mention for Alf in particular, who got round despite excruciating pain from his knees…seeing him get down Snowdon was like watching Touching the Void all over again.
Ben Nevis summit, 8pm Saturday
Scafell Pike summit, 7am Sunday
Snowdon summit, 3pm Sunday
Now, looking back at these pictures has made me realise that a cynic could say they were all taken on top of the same mountain (and I’m thinking we might have missed a trick there…) but we can assure you we’ve got the blisters and aching limbs to show for our ascents of all three!
Sponsor us and we’ll tell you the story about the dancing dwarf…
