Lost in translation

Just one final post from China…

I’ve been looking at this sign from the Forbidden City for the last couple of days (not continuously) and I’m still stuck as to what it means. If anyone has any ideas, or can translate it from the Chinese, please feel free to share.

  2. I think it means that thieves operate in the area. Tourists stand there for ages trying to work out what it means, and thieves can pick their pockets.

  3. I thought a place like the Forbidden City would be able to afford a translator. Here’s what the sign roughly says in Chinese: Because there are important events, please forgive us for bringing inconvenience to your sightseeing.
