Chewing Gum Man

Ben Wilson is an artist who works in London. Muswell Hill to be precise. Whilst most artists prefer to use canvas or paper for their work, Ben uses chewing gum that’s been squashed into the highstreet.

Ben’s been creating his miniature masterpieces full time since October 2004, and the trend seems to be finally catching on here in the north too. Here’s one effort we found outside our local boozer:

Thanks to DHM for the story and pictures (minus the last one). There’s also a short film about Ben’s work here.

  1. Ben is very talented, he works all the time round the streets of Muswell Hill placing art on the pavements. He painted a beautiful portrait of our dog, Kevin the Collie, on the paving slab outside our home. When we moved house he reproduced the image on a rock so we can keep it with us! I would like to see him have some real commercial success

  2. Does anyone know how to contact Ben? Is he still painting in Muswell Hill? The pieces I’ve read about him were back in 2005 and I’m trying to track him down… thanks!

  6. I have been a fan of Chewing Gum Man for a few years now and always love to see his work on the M/Hill streets which he produces whilst lying on the floor in a long green paint covered overcoat! Makes my day every time. Go Chewing Gum Man! :)
