T-Shirt of the Week Part 3 January 30th, 2009

Chris has had another T-Shirt of the week selected by Howies. It’s called “A Snail’s House” and is available for both gents and ladies, although ironically snails are hermaphrodites. At least I think that’s irony. I get so confused. It’s something like that anyway.

Here’s the gents’ version:

and one for the ladies:

That’s now six T-Shirts of the Week for Chris (it’s a lot better than his last effort), and the rumour is that when he gets to ten he’ll receive a personalised telegram from amateur skater and long-time Howies fan HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Who also lives in a castle.

The Love-Making Will Now Begin January 28th, 2009

Introducing The Love Trainer. It’s the Sex Enhancer of the Future.

CAUTION: contains scenes of incredibly happy and beautiful models ‘unlocking their inner stamina’.

I wonder if you can change the voice that talks to you, like you can on sat-nav? You could have Lorraine Kelly, that Kirsty girl off the housing programme or perhaps we can interest you in Super-Nanny’s Jo Frost? Of course, for the ladies there’s Sir Sean, Daniel Radcliffe or even Jonathan Agnew.

Up Close with Barry January 23rd, 2009

One or two of you will probably have noticed America now has a new President. But not so many of you will have been lucky enough to have actually been there. This is possibly the next best thing.

If you know anyone who was there you can probably find them. Prize for the first person to spot Will Smith. (Although I’m not sure how you prove this, so we’re now taking the prize away. Sorry.)

Thanks to Chris for the link.

We’re All Gonna Die January 22nd, 2009

‘We’re All Gonna Die – 100 meters of existence’ is an image 100 meters long. The clue is in its name. The second half of its name anyway.

Shot by Simon Hoegsberg in Berlin in the summer of 2007, it contains 178 people, two of which are wearing eye patches and one of which is eating a white chocolate Magnum ice cream (although they probably call them something else in Germany).

If anyone has any experience of buying ice creams in Germany, specifically in the Berlin area, please let us know what they call Magnums.

No Pants Subway Ride 2009 January 21st, 2009

Whilst America has finally gotten rid of its Bush (cue humourous advert from Veet) there seems to be a trend spreading across the country for people riding the subway without their pants on. (Remember, this is America, so pants means trousers – don’t expect to see any genitalia.)

It’s happening in New York:

And in Toronto (yes, I know that’s in Canada):

And San Francisco:

And in Chicago:

Not sure if it’ll take off on the trams of Manchester, but I’m sure our London friends will sort something out. All started by Improv Everywhere

All About LOVE January 21st, 2009

We’ve been working with The Grocery Company for a few years now, and they’ve been kind enough to let us have a great deal of fun with some of their brands like Nando’s and Cranks.  Finally they’ve allowed us to have a play with their own brand, giving them a new identity.

So after 10 years The Grocery Company has relaunched as All About Food, because that’s what they’re all about: Food. As well as creating a new logo, we’ve also designed a new website, which tells you pretty much everything you need to know about them. In case you missed the other links, this is the link here.

Here are some sound bites about the project, but they don’t really have any sound, so there’s no need turn your speakers up:

“We tasked Love to create a brand which encompassed our enthusiasm and passion for food along with the energetic culture of the company. What they delivered was a creative idea that not only encapsulated all of the above but provided us with a platform that will help drive us forward to the next level.”

– Phil Lynas, Managing Director, All About Food Ltd.

“All About Food are a great company and we’ve enjoyed being involved in this key stage in their development and finding a strong rebranding solution to help them grow their business further.”

– Cheryl Borkin Account Director, LOVE

“A soundbite? What? Like a quote or something? Is this for the blog?”

– Emma Morton, Designer, LOVE

Keep Quiet and Carry On January 16th, 2009

We did a guest edit of The Drum a few months back which was influenced by a certain motivational WWII poster. Here are a couple alternative posters we’ve done that might seem more appropriate now:

There were several others in our list of “Keep Calm and…” posters (Keep Quiet and Carry On?), but we’ve kept it down to five. Feel free to share your own versions with us.

Snowed In January 16th, 2009

Some people like to be beside the seaside.

Others don’t like to be beside the seaside.

They prefer to be beside the slopeside.

Such a man is Richard Higgins, our Digital Developer. And to celebrate his love of all things snow related he has created Snowed In – a website that he describes as “essentially a social blogging network for snowboarders and skiers. People can sign up, write their own snowsports blog and keep track of people and topics they might be interested in by choosing to follow other people and tags.”

If you’re a fan of:

a) Blogging

b) Snowboarding

c) Skiing

d) Facebook/ Myspace/ etc.

e) All of the Above

then you should very definitely, undoubtedly visit Snowed In, which Rich created with the help of Jake Read. It’s free to sign up and gives you access to all manner of opinion and debate from the world of snow.

Got Milk? January 5th, 2009

Welcome back.

Happy New Year to Everyone.

By amazing coincidence 2009 is the Year of the Cow.

You see, cows make milk.

Milk is used to make cheese.

Cheese is something you say when you’re having your picture taken.

Pictures say 1000 words.

Words will never hurt you, but sticks and stones will.

Also high on the list of things of things that hurt is giving birth.

And that’s exactly what happened to Mr Darren Hughes, our Creative Director, and Mrs Lisa Hughes, our PR Director on 1st January at 3am.

So, like we said, it really is an amazing coincidence.

Here is a picture (probably worth somewhere in the region of 1380 words) of Darren with his new daughter Molly. Congratulations to all involved.
