Rubberduckzilla

Here’s an odd one. I like Oasis – the drink, not the band. But I’ve never really liked their advertising. The Big Mouth thing was weird, the Cactus Kid felt like it was trying too hard, and the whole “For those who don’t like water” just seems like it’s been Apple C/ Apple V’d straight from the brief.

Mother’s latest ad is at least entertaining.

At least, that is, until that dog-turd of an endline appears at the end.

  1. Erm… Why does a rubber duck not like water? Am I being thick? Haven’t they heard the phrase “like a duck to water”? Duck’s LOVE water! They’ve got this all wrong. It’s cats that don’t like water, duh!

And “For those who don’t like water” just makes me think of rabies.

  2. PS: I read this was going out during Hollyoaks. Is there a ducks/aquaphobia plotline currently?

Any help on this would be great. I’m totally fucking confused

  3. …Riiiiight, so it’s the GIRLS who don’t like water in case they get gotten by…(ahem) a giant rubber duck..?

Nope. Sorry, that’s just stupid. You wouldn’t get a giant duck in a glass of water, would you. You couldn’t choke on it. Especially if there’s two of you in your bedroom – one of you would be watching the other, wouldn’t they.

    Wouldn’t they?

  4. The more I watch it the less sense it makes. Still, I stand by my point that it’s entertaining, no matter how confusing the thinking is.

  5. No, I agree. It’s kept me entertained for 4 whole comments now (and wonderfully shot too, if I’m honest – the bastards).

I think compared to the recent Barclaycard “life flows better… when you’re on crutches… and dancing” commercial, Rubberduckzilla’s thinking’s crystal.

  6. Could’ve been worse pieman. A dog turd endline could have appeared at the start…
