Graphic Designer vs Client

I’m a strong believer that you shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds you.

In fact you shouldn’t bite, chew, nibble, gnaw, lick, burn, cut, slash, stab, pinch, hit, slap, poke fun at, or verbally abuse the hand that feeds you.

Even pointing at the hand that feeds you in the wrong way can be unwise.

Which is why I didn’t post this film last week when it was first circulated around the office. But, having had the weekend to think about it, this film could really be about any profession (if you changed a few of the words here and there) and it is actually quite funny. LOVE and their management would like to clarify that this film in no way reflects life in the agency or any of our clients, past or present.

It’s just a funny film with lots of swearing.

Thanks Jono.

  1. If you don’t laugh you cry. The crap we have to put up with from some clients is unbelievable at times. I cant believe how brave you lot are posting it on your blog. I posted a much tamer version on our website here http://www.bourndesign.co.uk/blog/graphic-design/im-not-a-graphic-designer-but.aspx but didn’t quite have the same conviction. “f*cking millimetres or bastard inches” – that should be the standard text on all Adobe programs.

  2. Thanks Mark. Nicely written article too. I’d like to think that I can laugh at all the Shoreditch twat cliches us creatives get.

  3. It can be just as trying for copywriters. Years ago a young account handler at a Stockport Agency, ( you know the chap quite well as it goes pieman ), challenged my reluctance to do an unpaid job with the question, ” Come on, how long can it take to write a page of A4 for fuck’s sake? “

  4. Writing’s a doddle. Quit whining. No one actually reads anything these days anyway. You get more respect raping spastics at knife point than you do writing copy nowadays. Never start a sentence with “and”. What more do ya need to know?

  5. Oh, “clear call to action” too. That’s the other one. Clearly have a “call to action” but don’t say “and” after a dot. Oh, and don’t use contractions for certain clients. You have say “do not”. Otherwise it’s “a bit informal”. If you can do all that, then you’re well on the way to (oooh) £25k a year and loads of needless, piddling fucking stress for the rest of your life.

  6. John, I hope your sole purpose for commenting on our blog isn’t to shamelessly promote your own blog. I’m going to disable the link.

  7. Man, that is SO unfair. Don’t you know that for every click on my blog a child in India is born?

  8. Hi John. Thanks for those tips. I did not know about that “do not” thing. And thanks for that full-stop and starting a sentence info too.
