Well, as you all probably know it was the first day of spring on 1st March. This is great news, not only because we can finally say goodbye to an absolutely appalling winter, but also it means that our British summer is just around the corner.
I know our last few summers have been a disappointment when it comes to the weather, but are the longer daylight hours good news in more ways than one?
It has been proven that, as a nation we are much more cheerful in the summer. Obviously this is because it’s warm and sunny, and along with good weather it brings various other things that motivate your mood.
What I particularly love in the summer are things like…. ice cold Chardonnay, getting a suntan, having barbeques with friends, sitting in beer gardens and relaxing in the garden with a good book, to name just a few. However, is it just these obvious things that make me feel happier?
Statistics show that there is a condition called Seasonal Affective Disorder (or SAD) and it has been confirmed that the extended daylight hours of the summertime greatly improves our moods and mental stimulation. So say goodbye to your gloomy winter mood and say hello to happy!
