Welcome to your Friday dose of WEEK. A round up of what's dropped over the last seven days.
THE RELAUNCH OF THE FACE
The magazine which was long a source of cultural awakening for generations of British youths is BACK!
The comeback started last month with a white Instagram feed before following up this month with an online magazine. And it won’t be long before the bible of cool is available as a quarterly print issue, starting this summer.
The magazine promises to, again, have its finger on the pulse, saying “it’s not just about what pop culture matters, but why pop culture matters”.
'SUNDAY SERVICES' x COACHELLA
As if we weren’t already in love with Kanye West’s Sunday Services - thanks to the snippets we see on Instagram. I mean, the gospel choir, the incredibly curated dress code, the videos of North jamming to her Dad’s music. The A-list guest list. And let’s not skip past rapper DMX delivering his sermons.
But that exclusivity is about to widen as April 21st will see Kanye bring his Sunday Service to Coachella for a special Easter presentation.
Kanye announced the special service on board a flight filled with fans this week before Kim K extended the news via her Twitter.
THE O2 REVAMPS AS O3 TO HONOUR DRAKE RESIDENCY
When Drake rapped “Turn the O2 into the O3, dog” in “God’s Plan”, did he actually foresee the brand would actually do it?
As that’s exactly what happened this week, with the London O2 venue temporarily changing its signage to ‘O3’ in honour of Drake’s European ‘Assassination Vacation’ tour.
Naturally, the venue is going down a storm on social with Drake himself and fans uploading their reaction to Instagram.
AN APRIL FOOLS' FAVOURITE
We’ve been subjected to some pretty disastrous April Fools’ stunts this week. But one that captured our hearts ties into a suspected album drop from Kanye West (yes that’s an in-adverted second mention).
Curated by 15-year old Braxtyn on in his @yandi_yeet account on Monday, his usual content style is to dissect popular Yeezy products in a similar vein to what “What’s Inside” do.
But this time he went one better after “apparently” being one of the lucky few to get a hold of the limited-edition Yeezy boots (as covered last WEEK).
Braxtyn said he’d gotten more than he’d bargained for after cutting through the boot to find a USB of Kanye’s new unreleased “Yandhi” album.
On the supposed track-list are 10 songs, with features from Kim K and Taylor Swift (as if that wasn’t enough of a giveaway).
The biggest cue, however, is in the second track titled “Poisson D’Avril” which literally translates to “April Fools’” in French.
