It means “The Answer” February 8th, 2010

I’ve been seeing this video all over the place for a week or so now, and I just can’t get it out of my head so thought we’d give it an airing here too. It’s absolutely nuts… I can’t work out if it’s stupid, clever, or clever pretending to be stupid (which, after a bit of googling, it would appear to be). Whatever it is, it defies description, so hats off to Die Antwoord for that if nothing else. If you haven’t seen it, prepare for an interesting couple of minutes…

Rumours abound that this is all an elaborate marketing ploy by Puma – fascinating to see if that’s true in the year South Africa host the World Cup.

We’re looking for an account manager. You will have 2 or 3 years experience in a creative agency and be looking for more responsibility. You won’t be phased by the prospect of working with the people above on a busy, high profile international account, executing campaigns across print, TV and digital media, and contributing to a brand’s future strategic direction. You will have the following qualities: super organised; calm under pressure; culturally and media savvy. You won’t put ‘cinema, socialising with friends and going to the gym’ in the personal interests bit of your CV.

Send us your CV and tell us your interests: hello@lovecreative.com

A right bunch of mugs January 15th, 2010

There are many things in our world (if you take a step back) that have stayed the same for donkeys simply because no-one’s bothered to update them. Like regional advertising agencies (joke) or in fact the British Education System (no joke).

One such thing is the Willow Pattern, designed by Thomas Minton in around 1790 which depicts, typically in blue and white, a series of fables taken from Chinese mythology.

So in recognition of the inexorable rise of contemporary China, we’ve updated the Willow Pattern in the form of 12 mugs designed to explore a series of very modern Far Eastern myths, rumours and urban legends.

If you’d like our 1 spare set please state in 50 words why you (and not someone else) should receive them.

Or if you might want to be our client or you’re significantly influential, we’ll send you one of our boxes allocated ‘for clients or significantly influential people’ anyway.

*AVAILABLE SOON FOR PURCHASE.

The Alley January 14th, 2010

This is the view out of our window.

11

Most of the time it’s not very exciting.  However, there’s been a lot of activity down this nondescript Northern Quarter alley way.

So much we started documenting it.

Here are a few of our favourites. In no particular order:

Man uses alley regularly as his bedroom

21

Bar men photo shoot (man still asleep in background)

31

One of many miscellaneous fashion shoots

41

Passenger with hangover being sick

51

Ian Brown video (not photographed out of our window but it’s our alley all right).

61

Well actually, our favourite was when a paraletic young couple attempted to have intimate relations in the middle of the road in broad daylight. More than likely students but we don’t want to stereotype. Unfortunately the camera was out on official LOVE. duty somewhere so we’ll leave that one to your imaginations.

Porridge January 14th, 2010

peas-porridge-hot1

Ste Owen has ventured into the brave new world (for him) of porridge for breakfast instead of his usual Coco Pops or Frosties.

He’s looking for some inspiration to liven up his new ‘Paw Ridge’.

A brief straw poll of the office came back with Honey as the clear winner but here are few others:

“Raisins with little bit of cinnamon”

“Hate it. Hate the texture. Hate the colour. Hate the taste. I keep trying to like it but I can’t!”

“Definitely honey…and some sunflower seeds….and chopped dates….this morning I also added fresh raspberries….God bless porridge!”

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

What next Ste? Bread with the crusts left on?

Probably another post entirely but is it wrong to eat breakfast at the office?

I think it is.

Next Conservative election ads leaked… January 14th, 2010

In case you haven’t been finding DC’s face staring out from a 48 sheet near you scary enough, there’s more to come…

Your search for ‘Mike’ is over. January 11th, 2010

Say ‘hello’ to Mike Hughes, he’s just joined us as a Creative Head.

Mike’s previously been at St Lukes, Albion and 4creative and returns to his native North West with lots of global brand experience. Mike did some great work for us as a freelance on Sony PlayStation stuff last year, so we’re really pleased to have him here full-time.

If you do a google image search for ‘Mike’ (see below)  you get some quite interesting results, but unfortunately not a picture of our Mike. So see even further below for a pic of Mike himself, floating in black space.

[Winning caption here] January 11th, 2010

We were asked to produce a digital Christmas Card for Umbro that would make it through all sorts of firewalls, browsers, and email apps – which, if you know you stuff, means a JPEG. Chris ‘I used to work at Getty’ Myers found the image below on yes, you’ve guessed it, Getty.  Cleverly he turned it into a caption competition idea.

Which in itself turned out to be pretty successful with over 60 entries. Which also turned out to be good news for the winners of the competition, Daniel Langhorn and Tim Sinclair.

To see it in its full glory visit http://blog.umbro.com

When Tim’s not winning caption competitions he’s a very talented photographer (see self-portrait work below and URL link). Tim won a pair of signed Michael Owen Speciali’s which you can expect to see him wearing, otherwise naked in some dark place.
