We have a new website.

The more observant amongst you will have noticed that we have a new website. We thought we should do a blog post to let the world know about this, but chances are you are reading this on said site, so that seems a little bit pointless (unless of course you’re reading this via RSS, in which case you really should go and take a look at the new www.lovecreative.com).

So, instead, a few thanks to the people who helped it come into being. First and foremost the incredibly talented people of LOVE who conceived, designed, information architectured, asset-gathered, motion-graphicked, built, tested and project managed the whole darn thing. A process which is made much more difficult when you are your own client! Also, to Anthony Burrill, for the excellent illustrations he produced and to the people of Love and Disaster (the new Factory Records, I tell you!) who have kindly provided the soundtrack to LOVE radio.

Keep a look out for more new work being added soon and a couple of new features we’ve got in the pipeline.

And not a single powerpoint slide in sight!

Well, what a great evening we had down at our Glug event in London. Despite the Mancunian style downpour, plenty of Gluggers turned out to see Chris talk, followed by the good people from the Neighbourhood and Michael Moloney Studio. It was fun to meet and make friends with a bunch of new people; a feat that was made much easier by our bribes of LOVE rock (well done Andy…) and commemorative mugs produced for the evening. Admittedly, a good deal of time on the night was spent trying to explain to foreign design students:

a) what rock is

b) why our rock is grey

c) why it has a picture of the now demolished Hulme Crescents on it

But that aside, the evening went swimmingly.

Not long to go now until LOVE host Glug this Thursday at Cargo in Shoreditch. As if the promise of beer, BBQ and some great work from our friends at the Neighbourhood and Michael Moloney Studio wasn’t enough to tempt you, there will also be free gifts for all in attendance. Don’t want to give the game away too soon, but pictured below is one of the gifts in production. Any ideas?

Glug

We are very pleased to announce that we’ve hooked up with our friends Studio Output to host their next Glug event at Cargo, in Shoreditch on Thursday 26 August. For those unfamiliar with it, Glug is billed as a Notworking event; a chance to meet, make friends and have a few drinks - and a BBQ – with other creative folk. Previous hosts have included Mainframe, Studio AKA, Anthony Burrill, Dixon Baxi and All of Us. No pressure then.

As hosts, you’ll hear from us about LOVE, the work we do and why we do it. You may even see some ideas from the darker recesses of Phil Skegg’s mind (surely worth the £5.50 ticket price alone). We also have the honour of welcoming two esteemed guests to join us on the night. Let’s hear it for the Neighbourhood and Michael Moloney Studio, both good friends and long time collaborators of LOVE, as well as being hugely talented and all round good eggs.

If you’d like to join us at the event on Thursday 26th August we’d love to see you there. More info and link to purchase tickets available from the Glug site. Which is not to be confused with this Glug site, although we’re sure that’s good fun too.

On a recent visit to the world famous ‘Todmorden Agricultural Show 2010′ I saw these fantastic (prize winning) celebrity portraits drawn by some talented kids.

We suspect this is not as easy as it looks. We thought it would be interesting to see how a creative agency gets on with the same brief.

We’re on with it now and will publish some results in due course. Please feel free to have a go and send in your portraits. A suitable prize will be awarded to the winner judged on choice of celebrity as well as artistic flair.

BRIEF:

1. Choose a celebrity

2. Find a picture of their face and cut it in half (vertically)

3. Stick to a piece of paper

4. Draw in the missing half of the face

5. Scan in (72dpi no bigger than A4)

6. email to: celebrityportrait@lovecreative.com
